Special Guest, MPP, Hon., Michael Kerzner, Solicitor General

Mark Tenaglia • Nov 03, 2023

Our Special Guest, MPP, Hon., Michael Kerzner, Solicitor General, was truly enlightening. We engaged in a meaningful conversation about recidivism and the crucial significance of affording individuals second chances.

Recidivism is a complex problem that cannot be solved through punitive measures alone. The importance of giving people second chances cannot be overstated. By focusing on rehabilitation, reintegration, and support, we can help individuals who have made mistakes in the past become contributing members of society. When we choose to extend a hand rather than perpetuate a cycle of punishment, we move closer to a more just, compassionate, and inclusive society where everyone has the opportunity to redeem themselves and lead a better life.

Thank you Minister Kerzner and the Ontario Government for your support, guidance and leadership.

In today's rapidly evolving global economy, the importance of skilled trades such as carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work, cannot be overstated. These trades are crucial for building and maintaining our infrastructure, from constructing homes and offices to ensuring the functionality of essential utilities.

When Akwasi first crossed the threshold of our Skills Trade Development Program (STDP) at The Oaks Revitalization Association (ORA), he brought with him a story that was both heartrending and hopeful. Referred to us by the Toronto Police Service, Akwasi's journey had been a tumultuous one, marked by numerous encounters with the law, periods of incarceration, and the constant, watchful presence of a GPS ankle bracelet during his house arrest.
