AN INTRO TO CONSTRUCTION
Training Provider:
LiUNA Local 183 Training Centre
Prerequisites:
- Canadian citizen/Permanent resident
- 18 year old +
- Grade 10 or equivalent
- Valid Social Insurance Number
Training Summary:
- Gain hands-on experience in form setting, scaffolding, concrete placement, demolition, and safe power tool use. This training prepares you for work across multiple sectors including high-rise construction, roadwork, utilities, and landscaping.
- You’ll learn how to build and dismantle forms, ramps, and shoring; mix and pour concrete; and clear debris. Safety certifications include Working at Heights, WHMIS, and more.
- 8-week program, Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM.
HAZARDOUS MATERIAL WORKER
Training Provider:

Prerequisites:
- Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- 18 year old +
- Grade 10 or equivalent
- Valid Social Insurance Number
- Successful completion of a math and literacy assessment
Training Summary:
- Train to safely remove and dispose of hazardous materials such as asbestos, lead, and mould from buildings and disaster sites. This physically demanding work requires use of protective gear and adherence to strict safety protocols.
- The 5-week program covers hands-on training in hazard removal, equipment handling, and essential safety practices. Certifications include Asbestos Abatement (253W), WHMIS, Working at Heights, Confined Space Entry, Respirator Fit Testing, and more.
CONSTRUCTION CRAFT WORKER

Ontario Road Builders’ Association (ORBA)
Prerequisites:
- Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- 18 year old +
- Grade 10 transcript
- Valid Social Insurance Number
Training Summary:
- This blended training program includes 7 business days of in-class and online instruction, followed by 8 business days of paid work placement in the field.
- Participants will develop essential construction skills and gain experience on job sites. A $2,000 completion bonus is awarded upon successful participation.

HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR
Training Provider:
Operating Engineers Training Institute of Ontario (OETIO)
Prerequisites:

- Valid Driver’s Licence and 3-Year Abstract

- Trade Entry Exam
Training Summary:
Prepare for a career operating heavy equipment across multiple trades. This 16-week unpaid training program includes:
- Three weeks of online instruction and
one week in-person for each trade - Four weeks of Health and Safety training
- Free room and board provided in Morrisburg, Ontario
- Upon completion, participants will proceed with union initiation and dispatch.

OPERATIVE PLASTERERS, CEMENT MASONS, AND RESTORATION

Training Summary:
- Join a cohort of 15 for hands-on training in plastering, cement masonry, and restoration work.
- The program includes 8 weeks of unpaid training, followed by union initiation and job dispatch. Participants earn a starting wage of $22/hour.
- Interviews are held one month prior to training.
COMMERCIAL PAINTER & DECORATOR/ ARCHITECTURAL GLASS & METAL TECHNICIAN (GLAZIER)
