LiUNA has been more than just a partner to the Oaks Revitalization Association (ORA); they’ve been a lifeline for so many of the individuals we serve. Their dedication to empowering people from marginalized communities has opened doors to stable, well-paying careers in the skilled trades—opportunities that our clients may have never imagined possible. Thanks to LiUNA’s incredible training programs and ORA’s dedicated mentorship, we’ve seen lives completely transformed. People who once struggled to find their way are now confidently rebuilding their lives, finding stability, and regaining a sense of pride and purpose.

We are beyond humbled and grateful to share that ORA was recently honoured at LiUNA’s Annual Industry Awareness event, held at their beautiful new Vaughan headquarters. Receiving the Vic Soncin Employer Appreciation Award was an incredible moment for us. This award reflects the dedication, passion, and hard work our entire team pours into supporting individuals from marginalized communities and helping them secure meaningful careers. It is a powerful reminder that the work we do is not only recognized but also deeply valued by an organization as impactful as LiUNA.

This award means so much to us because it comes from LiUNA—an organization with a proud history of building and bettering the very communities we strive to serve. LiUNA represents a powerhouse of over 70,000 members, retirees, and families, all working tirelessly to strengthen our city, our province, and our country. To receive this recognition from such a deeply respected and community-rooted organization is an honour we hold close to our hearts.

Our partnership goes far beyond simply supporting career opportunities—it’s about creating futures. LiUNA’s comprehensive approach, from hands-on skills training to the mentorship provided by ORA, ensures that each person we work with is prepared for lasting success. LiUNA’s focus on both technical and personal growth has given our clients the tools they need to thrive not just in their jobs, but in life. Many of those who once faced seemingly insurmountable barriers are now well on their way to securing stable, well-paying careers that allow them to support themselves and their families with confidence.

The impact LiUNA has had on ORA’s mission of revitalizing lives through economic empowerment cannot be overstated. Together, we’re giving people the chance to rewrite their stories. People who might have been overlooked or forgotten now have the opportunity to build sustainable futures. LiUNA’s steadfast commitment to our shared vision has made them an irreplaceable partner in bringing real, meaningful change to our community.

We owe a special thanks to Jack Oliveira, Joseph Mancinelli, Victoria Mancinelli, Sandro Pinto, and the entire Executive Board of LiUNA. Their leadership and belief in the potential of those who need a second chance have been pivotal to our success. We are also deeply grateful to Lisa Pryce, Sara Salgado, Elizabeth Reis, and all the trainers at LiUNA Local 183. Their dedication, patience, and hands-on guidance have been life-changing for our clients, empowering them to step confidently into new careers and brighter futures.

LiUNA’s partnership with ORA isn’t just about job training—it’s about creating real opportunities where they didn’t exist before. Together, we are helping people overcome barriers, regain hope, and build lives they can be proud of. We are incredibly thankful for LiUNA’s continued support and the profound impact they are making in our community. To stand alongside such an incredible network of individuals, working together to create real opportunities for growth and revitalization, is an honour we hold close to our hearts.

At The ORA, we believe knowledge and training are the first steps toward independence and empowerment. When you learn a skill, you’re not just gaining a job. You’re discovering options.

Today, our clients had the incredible opportunity to hear from Mr. Jack Oliveira, Business Manager of LiUNA Local 183, a leader who has lived the journey, earned the respect, and built a legacy through hard work and loyalty. His message was simple, strong, and unforgettable: “You can sleep when you’re dead.”

Training isn’t about getting everything right the first time. It’s about showing up, trying, failing, learning, and coming back stronger the next day.

In the skilled trades, success starts long before the first tool hits the ground. It begins with showing up, early, prepared, and ready to work. Being on time isn’t just about the clock; it’s about respect, for yourself, your crew, and the craft you’re building.

In the skilled trades, every day brings something real. You can see the results of your effort — a wall built, a room finished, a foundation laid strong and steady. That’s pride. That’s purpose.
