Tylor's journey

Mark Tenaglia • Nov 07, 2023

Tylor's journey with our initiative began as an inaugural client in the early May 2023, setting the stage for his transformative experience. Our paths crossed in the heart of a bustling downtown Toronto, amidst the aromatic backdrop of a local coffee shop.

There, immersed in the ambient hum of city life, we engaged in a heartfelt and thorough dialogue. Our conversation traversed the terrain of Tylor's life story, exploring the valleys of his challenges and the peaks of his dreams — a vivid tapestry of where he stood and where he yearned to be.

Subsequent to our insightful discussion, Tylor transitioned to a more formal setting within our office, undertaking an extensive intake procedure. It was there that he was formally welcomed into The Skills Trade Development Program (STDP). Under the guidance of our dedicated team and the high-caliber training spearheaded by the expertise of LiUNA Local 183 Training Centre, Tylor's potential was honed and directed towards a successful career in the specialized field of high-rise forming.

This marked a significant turning point, not just for Tylor as an individual, but as a beacon of change for his family. The ripple effect of his newfound career has altered their collective trajectory, brightening their future with promise and stability. We celebrate Tylor's commendable success, a testament to the power of dedicated support and quality training within our program. Congratulations, Tylor, on this life-changing accomplishment!

When Akwasi first crossed the threshold of our Skills Trade Development Program (STDP) at The Oaks Revitalization Association (ORA), he brought with him a story that was both heartrending and hopeful. Referred to us by the Toronto Police Service, Akwasi's journey had been a tumultuous one, marked by numerous encounters with the law, periods of incarceration, and the constant, watchful presence of a GPS ankle bracelet during his house arrest.
